THEY SHOOT HUMPHREYS, DON'T THEY?
They Shoot Humphreys
As we open the show tonight, we have Queen Little J and her minions at work trying to find her the perfect escort to the upcoming Cotillion. It is her big debut into society and she needs the perfect date on her arm. And that perfect date is Graham Collins, the hottest guy on the Upper East Side. Meanwhile, we get just a flash of the Old Little J when she sees all of her competition, ie Royalty from other prep schools. So Jenny’s kingdom does not extend over every high school in New York. Interesting.

Since Cotillion is practically Blair’s middle name, you know she wants to get in on the action. She is supposed to be a mentor for the next generation of Prep School royalty, but is having doubts since her and Serena are fighting and she doesn’t want to run into her. Chuck convinces Blair that she should go, even though the welcome dinner for Debutants and their mentors is at the van der Woodsen home.

Serena, currently unemployed after breaking up with her fake boyfriend Patrick, has just landed a job working with newly elected politician, Trip. Apparently they bonded on election night, and he asked her to interview…for a position that doesn’t exist.

Olivia, Vanessa and Dan are (eternally) at the coffee shop, cramming for exams when a bunch of nerds start bugging Olivia for the inside scoop on the upcoming Eternal Knights 4….which she claims is just a rumor…until she sees all the missed calls on her phone….
They Shoot Humphrey's Don't They
Over at Cotillion practice, Lily is organizing the event and she inadvertently freaks Jenny out by telling her that all the other girls have been practicing ballroom dancing for years (implying that she is just a nobody from Brooklyn.)

Eric’s partner Kira is one of the many normal kids that looks up to Jenny, and when Eric tells her that Jenny is obsessed with going to the dance with Graham, Kira says they live in the same building and she could introduce them. Eric tries to tell her not to, that he also knows Graham from camp, but that Jenny hates it when people meddle in her business. But it looks like Kira would rather be friends with Jenny than listen to anything anyone else has to say so she picks up her phone.

They Shoot Humphrey's Don't TheyIn an effort to keep her around, Dan and Vanessa decide that Olivia really needs to experience the fun parts of college, not just the studying. They hatch a plan to do everything on the list of “15 things each student should do before graduating.”

Eric spots Jenny practicing the dance alone an befriends her and even teaches her a few moves. Jenny is a little surprised that he is being nice to her, but then she gets over it. When she complains about not having a date, Eric suggests that she take Jonathan, who apparently comes from an important family. When Jenny leaves to tell the new mean girls to call off the search, Eric spots a text in her phone from Graham asking if she needs a date. He responds that she already has one. So it looks like even Eric is not above the scheming.

At Serena’s place, Blair shows up and waits for Serena’s apology. Surprise, surprise, she is not willing to offer any. Serena is Jenny’s mentor, but when she and Blair argue, Jenny is determined not to be a pawn in their war. Serena tells them that Jenny can be partnered up with Blair, she needs to get back to work with Trip anyway. Blair is delighted.

Jonathon is reluctant to be Jenny’s date, but Eric convinces him by saying that she hasn’t fully crossed over to the dark side, and that they could still bring her back. He agrees after Eric assures him that she really wants to do this.

They Shoot Humphrey's Don't TheySerena stops by Trip’s office to drop off some food since he told her he works late. She starts to get involved with what he is doing, but when they have an awkward/ slightly intimate moment sitting next to each other on the floor he asks her to go home.

At the van der Woodsen party, Kira goes up to Jenny and says that with Blair Waldorf as her mentor, who needs Graham as her date? When Jenny is confused, she clarifies by saying that Graham texted her earlier that day but that Jenny had said no thank you to his offer. Then Jenny realizes that Eric was behind all this. Jenny storms up to him and says that she is going with Graham, and that she no longer needs Blair as a mentor. Eric lets it slip that he knows Graham, and Jenny is pissed. So Blair and Eric decide that Jenny needs to get what’s coming to her.

Blair comes over to Chuck’s place and is surprisingly calm when she sees the aftermath of Chuck and Nate’s lost weekend. When she sees a stripper wearing her expensive lingerie and doesn’t get mad, Chuck realizes there is a serious problem. He decides to get Blair and Serena to make up.

Trip basically admits to Serena that he has a crush on her, and that is why he hired her. Just then Serena gets a text from “Blair” saying that she is sorry. So Serena leaves awkwardly, just in time.

All the girls are getting ready for the big Cotillion and Blair is setting up Kira to be the new queen, by taking down the current queen….by having her attend with Graham.

Dan, Olivia and Vanessa are partying their hearts out at a typical college party, complete with Beer Pong and Keg Stands. They are taking shots and having an awesome time. Olivia decides she needs to do the movie, and that she is leaving next week for London.

At the Debut Party, Nate shows up to give Blair a note from Chuck, asking her to meet him upstairs. When she shows up, she finds Serena there. When they realize they’ve been duped, they both get in the elevator and it gets stuck. They press the “help” button only to find Chuck’s voice on the other end, telling them they need to make up.

At Cotillion, just as Jenny’s name is being called, there is a change in the program and Kira is called up to be escorted by Graham, leaving Jenny exiting the stage, confused and flustered. As the dance wears on and Plasticines perform their appropriately named song *****, Jenny goes looking for Blair to blame her for what happened. Eric tries telling her that maybe being queen isn’t worth it, and maybe all this is for the better, but she won’t hear of it.

Still trapped in the elevator, Serena tells Blair the whole saga of what happened with her dad. Blair clearly had had no idea, and she goes back to comforting and supporting Serena. She tells her about what almost happened with Trip, and Blair makes her promise that she won’t let anything happen with Trip, ever. S tells B that she might have had a little crush on him, but he is married and a Congressman, even Serena wouldn’t dare. The girls make up and all is right in the world.

Dan, Olivia and Vanessa, still drunk from their night of partying are hanging out and Olivia wants to know how many things you are supposed to do in college they actually did. When she finds out that they have done 14 out of 15, she is determined to do that last one. And even when she reads number 15 – have a threesome, she is not deterred. Both Dan and Vanessa admit to not having had one before, and Olivia says she has just had one once, in a movie. So then she finishes her drink, kisses Dan, kisses Vanessa and then Dan and Vanessa kiss…I’m sure you can imagine where this might lead.

They Shoot Humphrey's Don't TheyBack at the ball, in front of everyone, Jenny walks…with none other than Mr. Nate Archibald. Triumph for Lil J! All of the Queens from the various schools want to congratulate her. Meanwhile, Jonathan is disgusted by the way Eric schemed and stooped down to Jenny’s level. Eric claims he only did it to help Jenny, but Jonathan still can’t forgive the scheming and he breaks up with Eric. Eric and Kira decide that it’s time to get Jenny back for what she has done, once and for all.

Serena goes back to the office and tells Trip that she quits, but he doesn’t let her. He apologizes for what he said, and he tells her that she deserves this opportunity. Plue there are not too many people in this world that he trusts, so since she is one of them, she has to stick around. They promise to never cross the line. Yeah, cause I’m sure that will work.

When Lily and Rufus get home from Cotillion, Lily makes a shocking discovery on her desk: A letter addressed to Serena from Dr. van der Woodsen!

Olivia, Dan and Vanessa are all in bed together, sleeping off their night of alcohol and fun fun fun, and Olivia doesn’t see the text message she’s just gotten for KC, about the director having pulled out, and the movie being cancelled. Uh oh. Looks like she is going to have to stick around and deal with this one. Should be interesting…

Xoxo.
