| SERENA VAN DER WOODSEN BACKSTORY | | Serena van der Woodsen was born to Lillian van der Woodsen, an heiress socialite. Lily is married to Rufus Humphrey, father of Dan and Jenny Humphrey. Serena used to rule the Upper East Side while best friend, Blair Waldorf, was also pretty but less appealing than the gorgeous It girl. However, Serena left suddenly for boarding school, making Blair the queen bee of the social scene for a while. See Blairs info for more back story. Serena's kind of slutty and has multiple strings of boyfriends. Dan is the one she always loves though. He makes her a better person.
