| LILY VAN DER WOODSEN BACKSTORY | Lily van der Woodsen (née Rhodes) is the mother of Eric and Serena van der Woodsen. In the 80s, she was a groupie and involved with Rufus Humphrey (the father of Jenny and Dan Humphrey). After she left Rufus, she married the man who became Serena and Eric's father. She later divroced him and married two other rich men. During Gossip Girl season one, she becomes engaged to Bart Bass and eventually marries him despitede
spite the fact that her and Rufus have agreed that they are in love. In season 2 Bart dies,so she and Rufus get back together. It is also reveled that she and Rufus had a son who she gave up.
Lily is a backdoor pilot on May.11the May 11 episode of Gossip Girl.Girl, "Valley Girls".
The show would focus on the teenage years of Lily van der Woodsen (Rhodes in this series) with her sister Carol, therefore being a prequel and would follow her life living in Losthe San Fernando AngelesValley in the 1980s.
