They're the words that launched a dozen scandals: "Butter was closed that night." This time on GG Guide to NYC, we'll be covering a Manhattan hotspot that B and J once visited, but one that also — crucially — S didn't.

We'll refresh your memory: Grifter duo Poppy and Gabe teamed up to scam Serena and ended up ensnaring practically the whole cast in their web of lies. And how did Blair ultimately bring the truth to light? Gabe claimed to have met S way back in Season 1, during her wild night with Georgina, at East Village hotspot Butter. But Blair knew that wasn't true, as she herself was using Butter's DJ to sabotage Nelly Yuki that night, and B never forgets a scheme. It's not surprising Butter stuck in B's memory — it's also the site of her humiliation at the hands of Little J. (Check out the vid below for a refresher.)
Butter is one of *the* places in town for real-life scenesters to hang out. Who knows? You may even catch one of the Gossip Girl stars sipping a martini there. The restaurant/nightclub hybrid played host to Leighton Meester when she attended pal Robin Thicke's album release party back in December.
Now is a great time for NYC GG fans to check Butter out — it's restaurant week, and Butter is opening its doors to the plebes with discounts on delish meals like Shrimp Ravioli with Braised Dandelion Greens and Fresh Mint. Question: Could you give us more details about Blair and Chuck’s break-up on Gossip Girl? —Larissa
Ausiello: Blame Jack Bass. It’s all his fault.
Ugh. Of course it is. Jack Bass is the worst uncle this side of Hamlet. So does this have to do with Chuck's mysterious new mom figure? It just keeps on getting Shakespearier and Shakespearier. We don't really see B going the wimpy Ophelia route, though.
So are Chair dunzo for goodzo? GG Executive Producer Stephanie Savage had this to say to Kristin from Watch With Kristin:
“Last year, Blair made a pledge to Chuck: ‘The worst thing you’ve ever done, the darkest thought you’ve ever had. I’ll stand by you through anything.’ Well this spring, this oath is tested,” Savage tells Fancast.
No one at the show is officially confirming the rumored break-up — let alone what Chuck might do to precipitate it. Instead, Savage only teases: “Will Blair stand by her man? Or has Chuck finally played one game too many? Tune in and find out.”
Savage, you're killing us here. We'll take our dose of tragedy in English-lit form, thanks — Chuck and Blair better get their happy ending or we'll get all Macbeth up in here.

Now they're talking about guest starring on each other's shows. Blair Waldorf as a literal bloodsucker? We're having nightmares already.

The spoiled among us have been wringing our headbands over the bomb of Chuck and Blair's imminent breakup. Then it got even worse: Rumors began circulating that the impetus for their split is Chuck's hookup with... Jenny! Say it ain't so! It ain't, says TV spoiler maven Kristen from Watch with Kirsten.
Patricia in Boston: At first I was just sad about the Chuck-Blair breakup news, but now I am freaking the hell out. Is it true that the horrible thing Chuck does is sleep with Jenny Humphrey? I'll never watch Gossip Girl again if that's what happens!
Well, don't delete that Gossip Girl season pass from your TiVo just yet, because sources assure us that this particular rumor is totally false. So, while we can't tell you yet what bad thing Chuck does do, we can assure that you, no, Chuck does not sleep with Jenny. Whew.
Lauren in New York City: I'm so sad about Chuck and Blair breaking up on Gossip Girl! Anything new on that?Ed Westwick himself says of Gossip Girl's upcoming storylines, "It all gets set on its side. Everything goes upside down. Things are going to get even more dramatic than they always are." And Gossip boss Josh Schwartz tweeted, "Trust. #ChuckandBlair." Believe the man. Josh is the one who made Chuck and Blair so awesome in the first place, and he wouldn't be breaking them up unless it was part of a greater plan, right?
That's a pretty cryptic tweet on the part of showrunner Schwartz. Do you think he means we should trust that they'll make it in the long run, or that trust issues will drive them apart? Hmm...
Kristen also has some news on the return of van der Woodsen senior:
Chloe in Grand Island, Neb.: I approve of the casting of Billy Baldwin (although John Slattery would have been ideal) as Serena's dad on Gossip Girl, but I now have to know before I get too excited. Is Daddy van der Woodsen completely evil, or does he have any redeeming qualities?
We're told we'll see that William van der Woodsen does want to get back into Serena and Eric's life on Gossip Girl. That doesn't mean he's a pure good guy—his motives for seeing them could be totally dark side—but at least he's no longer totally dissing his own children.
So he's got complicated motives and a hidden agenda. Well... yeah. It's Gossip Girl. We figured. Not super informative, K.

| Badgley Saves the Day!
Jan. 20, 2010 Super-Penn to the rescue! Mr. Badgley (Dan) reportedly saved his mom, Lynne, after a skiing accident on Christmas afternoon.
It all went down when Penn and Blake (Serena) were vacationing together with their families in Park City, Utah. While out hitting the slopes, Lynne slid out of control and smashed headfirst into the snow. Ouch. Luckily, Penn was close by to summon help, and Lynne walked away with only a headache and a sprained shoulder.
Aww, how sweet — we love a guy who takes care of his mom. This act of heroism certainly doesn't hurt his cause to be the new Spiderman, either!

Jan. 14, 2010We've noticed a heck of a lot of micro mini-dresses on the blonde GG girls this season -- so micro, in fact, that there is *definitely* no sitting down or bending over in those frocks without creative leg placement. Serena's gorgeous one-sleeved Alexander Wang ruched dress in deep purple (rich purples seem to be a theme for Season 3—see "Little J's in a Purple Haze") looks fierce on her in a laid-back glam way. She's really workin' those purple hues, but breaks it up with pop of color around her left wrist—what looks to be a purple and jade green beaded necklace worn as a bracelet.

According to Hollywood Life, the couple nixed the long red carpet for a trip to the concession stand! We're guessing Jessica will have to do a few more chin-ups at the monkeybars to burn off those calories! The date night scoop ends there, but we're guessing Ed and Jessica took advantage of the dark theater for a little post-Sour Patch Kids make-out sesh! Hawt.

Jan. 13, 2010Congrats, Ed Westwick (Chuck)! Cosmopolitan has just named him a "Fun Fearless Male of 2010." The dashing actor shares this coveted title with 14 other "bold yet surprisingly sweet" guys including cutie GG executive producer Josh Schwartz and hottie Kellan Lutz. They're not exactly Emmys, but they are two more wins for the Gossip guys! And Ed really does deserve this title -- there's definitely something "fun and fearless" about baring his hairy heaveage in nippy winter climes (sorry, we had to!).
Ed admits to Cosmo he's hopeless romantic, "I have faith in love. They say to fall in love, you have to take a leap. There’s something incredibly exciting about that." With recent news of Ed and his GG co-star and girlfriend, Jessica Szohr (Vanessa), shacking up, could their relationship be headed toward the ultimate leap of faith sometime soon? And as for Ed's most fearless act of late he tells the mag, "I like to do this trick where you lay your hand down on a table, pick up a knife, and stab it between your fingers quickly. I’ve cut myself once or twice, but I’ve still got five fingers. Sounds a little bit dangerous, eh?" Eek! Ed, we hope you nix the knife tricks -- Chuck's bow-ties would be pretty hard to tie when you're missing a few digits! Jussss' sayin'.
FYI: Apparently the UES is full of fun, fearless males! Chace Crawford received the nod last year. If this pattern keeps going, will 2011 finally be Penn Badgley (Dan), Matthew Settle (Rufus), or Conor Paolo's (Eric) year to be fun and fearless? We hope so!

What she loves about the workout: “The playground workout is great because you can do those exercises both outdoors and indoors by swapping out the picnic benches and swing sets for chairs, benches or whatever is in my hotel room when I am traveling! I definitely don’t drive myself nuts over always getting a workout in, but I will do what I can.”
Jessica isn't just smart about working out, however. She also has a balanced approach to diet and nutrition. She recently shared her laid-back philosophy about food and exercise with FitSugar.com: "For me it’s just about balance because I’m not the greatest eater ever. I like my pizza and french fries with ranch sauce. But I also realize if I’m going to eat a lot then I have to work out a little bit. So I try to do yoga a couple times a week. And I’m trying to start to do cardio, but it takes me like 30 minutes to run a mile so it’s not working out so well. I have been lately, more than normal, which is probably good because I’m going to eat a ton of cookies and stuff." The actress goes on to add, "I think it’s balance. Jan. 7, 2010We were all disappointed when Kelly Rutherford showed up to rep Gossip Girl at the People's Choice Awards completely alone (with all the recent gossip, we thought Chace might show up on her arm). Furthermore, how could Starship Cobra replace classy Leighton Meester with skank Nicole Scherzinger!? And even more disappointment: we got zero sexy shots of the Gossip guys in suits. It's just not fair!
For those of you who are let down by the lack of man candy (like we are), here is some good news! Chace Crawford is taking the stage at the Golden Globes as a presenter! He'll be joined by A-listers Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Halle Berry. Way to hit the Big Time, C!

Fame frankly means nothing. It’s so stupid. Unless you do something great and unless you do something that’s fulfilling to you, what’s the point?
I get such a bad rap for being like Lindsay Lohan. I hate naming names because she’s really sweet — and I’m really not. I don’t go out. I have no desire to be some tabloid party girl. I’m entirely a loner. I have been my entire life.
I’m not interested in playing the field and all that stuff because frankly I’m not into frivolous relationships. I’ve got a couple close relationships with friends, a close relationship with my family, and a close relationship with my guitar. I’ll know if the right person comes along, and whatever then — cool — but it’s not something I’m seeking out at the moment.
