| ■ THE WRATH OF CON SYNOPSIS
CW Synopsis
| Full Episode Synopsis
| | Blair (Leighton Meester) pressures Georgina (Trachtenberg) into making amends for her past bad behavior by helping her in a scheme. The rivalry between Nate (Chace Crawford) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) over Blair comes to a head. Lily (Kelly Rutherford) hatches a secret plan to help Rufus (Matthew Settle) with Dan's (Penn Badgley) college tuition. Blake Lively, Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr also star. | Tonight's episode picks up about 5 minutes after the last one left off. Chuck is on his way back to NYC (in a CAB!) with Georgina, and Serena calls Chuck to apologize for not believing him and to tell him that Gabriel screwed over Lily and the Co-op. She then tries to tell her mom about what happened, but Lily starts going on and on about what a great woman Serena has become and how proud of her she is. She then tops it off by giving Serena her great grandmother’s beautiful bracelet. S then calls her good friend Blair to come help her.
Blair, meanwhile, is still at Nate’s new apartment that he bought for them to share and they are still arguing about his motives behind getting her the place. When she leaves to go help Serena, he comes with her so they can continue their discussion. S tells B that him and the money are gone, but that she has a plan.
The Humphreys are planning to go to brunch with the van der Woodsens and Rufus tells the kids that he plans to ask Lily to marry him, after he talks to Eric (the man of the house.) Dan and Lil J are both very excited for their dad. Serena has canceled so Dan offers to go try to convince her to come.
Back at Chez van der Woodsen, S calls Gabriel and tells him that she is scared she might be pregnant and that he should call her back ASAP. Chuck and Georgina have made it back to the city, and Georgina wants to find Blair, supposedly so she can apologize. When Chuck walks in to S’s room to find that B, S, and Nate haven’t yet called the police, he is shocked. S doesn’t want Lily or anyone else to find out. Nate/Chuck/Blair exchange some words, when Dan Humphrey walks in and B spills the beans about the faux investment. Dan realizes that’s partially made up of his college money, and kinda freaks out. In walks Georgina, with impeccable timing as usual. Everyone is screaming at everyone, when Gabriel calls.
Serena goes to the restaurant in the hotel to meet up with Gabriel and right away she tells him that she wasn’t pregnant but that she can’t believe how he betrayed her. She tells him she will give him this opportunity to give the money back. When he says he can’t, Chuck comes to the table and says he is not allowed to leave until he repays his investors. Gabriel claims he doesn’t have the money – Poppy Lifton does. He explains to them all about the Ponzi scheme, and totally sells out Poppy. He tells Serena that at first she was just a target, but now he has real feelings for her. Poppy’s plan was to play the victim, taken advantage of by big bad Gabriel, so they know she is still in town. Luckily, Poppy has never met Georgina, and although she is now saved and does not commit sins like lying, she is really trying to win Blair’s forgiveness, so this could be a win-win situation.
Dan runs into Lily and immediately spills the beans to her about Gabriel being a con artist. Lily thanks him for taddling but says not to tell anyone else, that she will handle it. Lily then tells Serena that she knows all about it, and Serena should not do anything about it. She doesn’t want her name to forever be associated with scamming her friends and family out of money. So she tells Serena to just let her quietly pay back all the investors, and essentially let Poppy get away with it. S tells B to call off the plan, but she has already put all this effort into convincing Georgina that God is actually on the side of Blair Waldorf.
Meanwhile, Poppy comes over to Serena’s house and has tea with Lily and talks about how heartbroken she is about how Gabriel scammed her and broke her heart. She also tells of her plans to head to Miami the following day. That pretty much sends Serena over the edge, and she tells Blair (and a newly dressed up as a innocent oil heiress Georgina) that the plan is back on.
So Georgina is to meet with Poppy at the Russian tea room, with a recording device in her purse. Minutes before, Dan calls Lily and yet again tells on Serena and the gang. Meanwhile, Rufus has set up the proposal for Lily and while she is calling Serena begging her not to go through with the plan, Rufus finds a folder with the various investors info and he notes that he is the only one who has not been repaid.
Nate confronts Chuck about his trying to get close to Blair. He doesn’t understand why, if Chuck doesn’t like Blair as he said he didn’t, he is doing everything in his power to get close to her. He basically accuses him of not being honest with himself about his feelings for her. He says that if Chuck likes Blair, he should man up and admit it to everyone, and if not, he should step off and let Nate and Blair be happy.
At the bar at the Russian Tea Room, Chuck and Blair have a conversation. Blair finally tells Chuck she needs an answer. And she tells him to look into his soul and see if what he feels for her is real, and if not to seriously let her go. He tells her it is just a game – and she storms off. Just then, Serena walks up and asks Chuck why he did that, and he said because he loves her and can’t make her happy.
So Georgina is doing a bang-up job with Poppy. Serena sees that the cops are outside and is slightly confused because she thought Chuck was just calling his PI. So when she goes out to talk to them, they somehow arrest her! So as Serena is being put in a cop car and arrested, Poppy exists the restaurant, significantly richer than when she came in.
Of course Blair assumes Georgina set them up, but Georgina maintaines that she didn’t. And to add insult to injury, she gave Poppy the money that she had for buying bibles for her camp.
So Serena was arrested for….stealing her grandma’s bracelet! Lily called it in to stop her from messing up the Poppy thing and creating a scandal. When Lily tells Rufus this, he tells her that she sounds just like her mother, and changes his mind about the proposal. Between that and her trying to sneak money to him to help pay for Dan’s schooling, Rufus has had enough.
Blair tells Nate that there is officially nothing going on with her and Chuck, but that she still doesn’t want to move in with him. He apologizes for buying the apt. just to force her to talk about the issues they were having. So they both agree that going to Prom together would be a more logical step than cohabitating.
So Rufus heads back to Brooklyn and tells the kids to return his engagement ring to Lily. Serena is getting her photo taken in jail while Blair, Nate and Chuck each have no luck figuring out what is going on. Just then Blair gets a call from Georgina –old Georgina that is, saying that the bitch***** is back and Poppy is going down!
