| | With Chuck (Ed Westwick) MIA since his father's funeral, Uncle Jack (Harrington) arrives on the Upper East Side to help Chuck pick up the messy pieces, but first he has to find him. Trying her best to forget her last painful exchange with Chuck, Blair (Leighton Meester) focuses her attention on being accepted into the most prestigious ladies club in the city, Colony Club. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) returns to Constance Billard and immediately takes on Penelope (guest star Amanda Setton) and her posse of mean girls, but no one is going down without a valiant Gossip Girl-worthy fight. Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. | On tonight's episode, we pick back up with our favorite Upper East Siders that we haven't seen since 2008. Serena did in fact go to Buenos Aires with Aaron...but broke up with him there. She and Dan realize that they both still have feelings for each other, and since it's not going to work out between Lily and Rufus, there is nothing stopping them.
Jenny Humphrey is headed back to high school and realizes that even after all she's been through, mean girls still make high school difficult. She is shocked to see how mean Blair's old posse treats their greenest member, Nelly. With Penelope now at the helm, Jenny tries to negotiate, but it quickly turns into all out war.
Blair is trying to get in to the Colony Club, an exclusive ladies club, in an effort to start a fresh new year without Chuck. Chuck, meanwhile, has been missing from NYC and we get a quick glimpse of in some type of Opium den before his uncle Jack brings him back to town.
Rufus has been lying to Dan and said he was visiting a painter/sculptor for the gallery but he was really looking all over Boston for his biological son/daughter. Rufus is contacted by the adoption agency and told that he can't find out any details without just asking Lily. At the Gallery, Lily and Rufus have words because Rufus wants to contact the child and be part of his life while Lily doesn't necessarily think that would be the best idea for either of them.
At Constance Billard, B and S catch up with each other. Blair tells Serena that she told Chuck she loved him, and then he disappeared for a month and she totally regrets ever having said it. And just as she starts to confess something else, Dan appears and spoils the moment.
Later at the apartment, Dan and Serena are making out when Rufus walks in, asks Serena to leave and tells Dan that dating Serena is a mistake. After school the next day, Dan and Serena decide to investigate what happened between their parents, and Dan finds the number of an adoption agency.
Chuck then comes to school, totally high and smoking a joint. Blair tries to represent him in front of the head mistress in a very rational and dignified way when Uncle Jack comes in and is antagonizing and frustrating to both the head mistress and Blair. Later B makes a teary-eyed confession to S that she is really worried about Chuck. She goes looking for him and finds him at the Victrola burlesque club, making out with 2 women. She pleads with him to go home, but he refuses, blows her off and insults her. Completely hurt, she then has to go home and try to pull herself together for the ladies club. She says she is not abandoning Chuck, but rather just saving herself.
Back at school Jenny and Penelope take their case to the queen B, and when she refuses to hear their high school drama, the stakes are raised. Nelly is now officially hanging out with Jenny and Eric, and they take their girls' seats at the frozen yogurt place. Penelope and crew retaliate by calling their parents and saying that Jenny is bullying them. Jenny and Eric then find that having Nelly on their side comes with its advantages, when Nelly reveals that Penelope is sleeping with her dad's junior partner...and we all know information is power.
When Dan tries to confront Rufus about the adoption agency, Rufus ignores him but asks if he heard about it from Chuck. Then Dan goes to Chuck and hears the whole story. Dan then realizes its probably over between him and Serena if she ever finds out they share a half-sibling. Eric shows up at the club too and tries to ask Chuck to come back to him. He then meets Jenny outside and they blackmail Penelope, Hazel and Izzie with their new found information, and the girls give in. Only, when they logically offer Jenny the "queen" position, she tells them that was never what she was interested in, she just wanted them to back off Nelly. And just to add insult to injury, Nelly explains that she only befriended Jenny because she thought there might be a new regime in charge when she came back to school.
At Blair's house, the "ladies" turn out to be caddy and judgemental, talking smack about Serena, Lily, Bart and Chuck. She tells them off and then heads over to the club to save him. She finds him drunk and stumbling on the edge of the roof. She tells him that she will always be there for him, and that he needs to take care of himself for her sake. She pulls him off the ledge. Later when Jack is getting ready to take Chuck home, Blair says that she doesn't trust Jack, and that Chuck "can't find out about what happened on New Year's." Interesting...
Rufus goes over to Lily's place and tells her than she thinks Dan is about to find out and to give her a head's up about Serena. Rufus tells her that he doesn't hate her, he just needs some time to sort this whole thing out. Meanwhile, Dan is about to tell Serena when Rufus calls and says that he needs to keep it from Serena so Lily can tell Serena and Eric about their long lost brother herself, after she gets back from her trip to Boston with Rufus, to look for the child. Lying and hiding information seems to be Dan and Serena's specialty...but will that be the end of them? I guess we'll soon see. |
