| Thanksgiving in the Waldorf household finds Blair (Leighton Meester) upset that her mom's (Margaret Colin) new boyfriend, Cyrus (guest star Wallace Shawn), has decided to ruin all her favorite traditions, but that's nothing compared to what's coming next. Lily (Kelly Rutherford) finds herself trying to broker a peace treaty between Rufus (Matthew Settle) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) who is prepared to cut off all communication with her father if she doesn't get her way. Serena (Blake Lively) isn't quite ready to come clean with Aaron (guest star John Patrick Amedori) about her complicated past, but Dan (Penn Badgley) ends up accidentally revealing a few tidbits of his own. Blair and Chuck (Ed Westwick) come to their friend's aid when Nate (Chace Crawford) is once again forced to confront his father's (guest star Sam Robards) abandonment. Finally, Eric (Connor Paolo) discovers a secret that Bart (Robert John Burke) has been keeping from Lily. Jessica Szohr also stars. | Happy Thanksgiving from the Upper East Side! Though I somehow doubt it will be the warm, family focused Brady Bunch thanksgiving episode we've come to expect from television. Little Jenny Humphrey is busy trying to get emancipated from her parents so she can start her own design business, but is taken aback when told they will need to open an investigation about her family. Rufus is ready to call the cops when he finds out she is no longer living at Agnes's place, but Dan tells him that Serena said that she and Eric had been spending time together. Lily confirms to Rufus that Jenny is living with them and tells Rufus that she will talk to Jenny and then arrange a meeting once they are both calm and ready to talk. Nate is shocked when his dad comes home and invites him and his mom to move to Dominica with him. His mom is on board. Later he runs into Vanessa while returning something to Rufus and it becomes clear that Nate is considering leaving. S is still seeing Aaron, despite her own (and not to mention Blair's) objection to dating someone who has made it clear that he is dating other people. When he makes her a pre-TG dinner, he tells her that he is now officially a one-woman man...and he also shares some additional info: that he is sober and needs to be around people that don't "tempt him over to the dark side." She says she used to party a long time ago but that is all in the past. Dan and Rufus run into Aaron at the grocery store and share an awkward exchange about Serena where Dan overshares and tells Aaron about how Serena used to be a partier and he mentions Georgina. At TG, Aaron brings it up to Serena and she downplays the whole thing. Bart and Lily have come home a day early and when Eric mentions to Bart that things are a little rocky between him and his boyfriend Jonathan, Bart insinuates that he might be seeing someone else. When Eric goes to Chuck with this information, he finds out that Chuck has a PI to investigate the family and their friends. Once the safe is open, Eric finds some reallly personal stuff in his folder and can't bear to open his mom's or Serena's. Meanwhile in Brooklyn, Vanessa gets a visit from the FBI about Nate. She calls Chuck and tells him Nate needs their help. They then arrange for Nate to meet with the FBI agent. Nate finds out that his father asked him and his mom to live with him in the Caribbean just to extort money from his grandparents. He is then faced with a choice: let his dad get away, or turn him in. Blair has been annoyed because her mom's new boyfriend Cyrus is moving in with them and they have to follow his family's TG traditions. When complaining to Dorota, she learns that Cyrus has proposed to Eleanor, but they are waiting until Thanksgiving dinner to announce it. Blair and Dorota storm off. When Lily tries to talk to Jenny, she sees her Emancipation of a Minor paperwork. She then calls Rufus and tells him to hurry over to her place, despite it being Thanksgiving. When Dan shows up (with Rufus), Aaron confronts him about lying about Serena and when they both confront Serena, she gets mad at Dan and he recants his story. Later she apologizes to him in private after Aaron has left. In the other room, Rufus tells Jenny that he will let her go if that's what it takes to get her back, hoping that will guilt her into not going through with the emancipation idea, but she leaves implying that she's going to do it anyway. Lily is furious with Bart for keeping files on her kids, and Lily, Eric and Serena take off. Serena takes her file and goes to Blair's house to find Aaron and come clean about her sordid past. She leaves the file with him and tells her to call him if after reading it, he is still interested in her. Later he comes by her place and says he doesn't need to read the file, he just wants to get to know her, and they make up. Blair runs into Jenny, still upset after having stormed out of Lily's house and her fight with Rufus. She and Blair share a touching moment about how their parents love (or don't love) them. When Blair's mom comes to pick her up, she only agrees to come with if Jenny goes back to her Dad's house. At Nate's house, he tells his dad the FBI is on their way and he still has time to leave if he wants. But if that is the route he chooses to take, he will ruin his relationship with his son forever, and lose his respect. In the end he chooses to be led away in handcuffs. Nate and his mom get their house back, and Nate asks Vanessa to go out with him sometime. Later he and Chuck share a few drinks in the limo and presumably have made up. When B and her mom return home, Blair sees that the big surprise was that her dad came in from France to spend the holiday with her...and also that her mom was engaged. In a heartwarming moment, Blair realizes she might be ready for some new traditions, ones that include Cyrus. Rufus and Dan come home to find Jenny there, and she tears up her emancipation papers and tells her father she loves him. Then Lily and Eric walk in, saying that its Thanksgiving and they couldn't think of anywhere that felt more like home. Vanessa then shows up and makes up with Jenny. Jenny mentions that she hasn't heard from Nate in a while and Vanessa sees an unopened letter from Nate to Jenny on the table and steals it. Outside this happy evening in Brooklyn looms Bart who calls his investigator and says he wants him to look into Lily's past and find out everything about her, including while she spent some time in a mental health facility when she was 19. Looks like Bart hasn't quite leaned his lesson about snooping on his new family. I guess old habits die hard. |
