| ■ NEW HAVEN CAN WAIT BEST MOMENTS AND BIGGEST SHOCKERS
- Serena forgoes her trip to visit Brown, her dream school, in favor of Yale when Blair tells her she isn't smart enough to get into Yale. Meanwhile, Yale is practically banging down Serena's door to get her to attend the university.
- Chuck is evaluating schools based on secret societies and slutty coeds.
- Though Rufus is dead-set on Jenny remaining in school (and preferably waiting to pursue fashion), Eleanor's suggestion that he think back to what his dreams were when he was 15 and Lily's push for Rufus to consider Jenny's talent result in his agreement that Jenny can be home schooled.
- When Nate finds out that a Yale Econ class is studying his father's case, he takes on the guise of Dan Humphrey. But when Dan introduces himself as Dan Humphrey, and calls Nate by his actual name, his cover is blown.
- Serena is chosen to attend the Dean's special private dinner, and Blair is not, but of course she wrangles an invitation in the end. Serena, now fully invested in this competition, steals Blair's answer to the Dean's question ("Who is the one person you'd like to have dinner with, fictional or real, living or dead?") But Blair changes Serena's answer to Pete, the guy she "killed."
- Chuck is kidnapped by the Skull & Bones society, but they want more from him than he's willing to give. They want Nate, but he gives them Dan instead. They tie Dan up (thinking he's Nate) to a pole in only his boxers. Nate gets into a fight with the S&B guys and then goes to rescue Dan. It seems maybe all their issues might be in the past.
- Blair and Serena get into a cat fight. In the end, though, they make up and go to the Dean separately on each other's behalf. However, Serena is the only one who gets a personal invitation from the Dean to attend Yale.
- The S&B guys threaten Chuck, but he reveals that he has video of them with the girls from the party, so he now owns them.

| ■ NEW HAVEN CAN WAIT SYNOPSIS
CW Synopsis
| Full Episode Synopsis
| | After Blair (Leighton Meester) and Serena (Blake Lively) get into a catfight, Serena decides to get even with Blair, who has always dreamed of attending Yale, by ditching her plans to visit Brown, and instead accepting the Dean of Yale's personal invitation to visit the school. After discovering that none of his recommendation letters for Yale were ever submitted, Dan (Penn Badgley) frantically tries to figure out a way to salvage his chances of getting into the school. While on the Yale campus, Chuck (Ed Westwick) is kidnapped by a group of Skull and Bones members and Nate (Chace Crawford) hooks up with a co-ed. Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star. | Tonight's episode opens with Blair, yet again, dreaming that she is an Audrey Hepburn character -- this time Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady...except she is the bag lady version and Serena is Eliza after her high society makeover. B is looking forward to her interview with the Dean at Yale, the school she's been dreaming of attending her whole life. After the interviews, legend has it, the Dean hand picks candidates for his private receptions and B, being her own biggest fan, is confident she is a shoe-in. Still in a fight with Serena, B can't wait to get out of "Serenaville" though another photo of Serena in the paper is making it hard to escape. B is thankful that S doesn't have the smarts to get in to Yale...
Meanwhile Serena has received a and writtenhand-written note from Yale asking her to tour the campus. She is planning to ignore it to go to Brown...that is, until Blair taunts Serena at school, telling her she is not smart enough to get in. Then, it's goodbye Providence and hello New Haven.
Dan is reacting in his typical Dan fashion, all nervous and overly talkative, to getting into Yale. Meanwhile on the Upper East Side Chuck and Nate are also planning to go. Nate would rather go to USC, but his mom won't hear of it. Chuck is "evaluating colleges based on secret societies" and slutty co-eds.
In Brooklyn, Jenny convinces Rufus to come with her to work for one day and then decide if she will be allowed to quit school to work in the fashion world full time. Once there, Rufus secretly asks Jenny's boss, Eleanor, to fire her...but she asks him to remember his dreams from when he was 15. Rufus tells Jenny she still has to go to school after all. She then takes him to drop something off at Lily's place where Lily tells Rufus more of the same about how talented Jenny is, etc. etc. Isn't it fun when Rufus and Lily happen to run into each other? Anyway, in the end, Jenny is allowed to be home schooled.
At Yale, Dan is told he needs another recommendation about his writing to have a chance at getting in. Chuck is waiting to be found by the Skull and Bones, and Nate ditches him to meet girls. He meets co-ed Jordan and while they are hanging out, one of her friends asks Nate if he knows Nate Archibald cause they studied his father's crimes in Econ and there is a rumor that he is on campus this weekend. Nate then asks Jordan for a personal campus tour, and tells her his name: Dan Humphrey. I guess "Dan Humphrey" is about as different from "Nate Archibald" as you can get. Meanwhile, Chuck is kidnapped by a group of guys. They tell him he is Skull and Bones material, but he will have to prove himself.
Blair is shocked to see her frenemy Serena walk out of an interview with the Dean. The dean asks her to tell him something interesting about herself that is not in the a packet she can't help but compare herself to Serena. Then she tells him everything worth knowing about her is in the packet, and he doesn't invite her to his private party. B sees S outside and asks her why she came to Yale. S confesses that at first it was to punish Blair for being such a brat earlier at school, but that now she actually likes it here. When S gets invited to the private dinner with the Dean, B vows to take her down.
Later, Chuck runs into Serena on campus and tells her that the Dean always asks the question, "who is the one person you would most like to have dinner with, fictional or real, living or dead?" If the Dean likes your answer enough, you get accepted automatically. When she stresses about not having an answer, Chuck tells her to steal Blair's: George Sand, the Dean's favorite writer. Blair schemes her way into getting an invitation to the Dean's party by bribing his secretary and after having words with Serena, realizes she is stealing her answer. Back in one of the dorms, Nate and Jordan are making out when Dan shows up at Jordan's room asking her to get one of the professors to read his work and write a recommendation. When he introduces himself as Dan Humphrey and calls Nate by his actual name, the cat is out of the bag. Nice one, Dan!
The Skull and Bones guys are not impressed with the party Chuck throws for them, and they tell him he needs to prove his loyalty by bringing them Nate Archibald. They all have *bones* to pick with him, as his father cost their families money. Chuck calls Nate and they plan to meet up. For a second there, It looks like Chuck has set Nate up, but when they Skull and Bones guys kidnap Dan Humphrey we realize even Chuck would not sell his friends out like that. Later Nate sees the S & B dudes at the bar, and when Nate tells them who he is, they fight. Nate comes by and rescues Dan (who has been tied, in his underwear to a column outside a building on campus) and we think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.
At the Dean's party, Blair has a mysterious back up plan that proves to be quite the shocker. Blair changes S's answer to be Pete, the guy she "killed." The girls get into it in front of everyone, and things only escalate when they take it outside. They both accuse each other of crossing the line and then B, in one of her finer moments, chucks her purse at Serena's head. Then B tells S that they only reason Yale would want her is for her celebrity status. Then they brawl and Serena rips out Blair's, ehm, large headband and tells her how much she hates her headbands. I think the fans would be split on this one. After the fight, the girls call a cease-fire, agreeing not to speak anymore. The next day, they both separately go to talk to the Dean on the other one's behalf and agree to be friends again.
When Chuck sees the S & B guys the next day, they tell him he is going to pay for setting them up with the wrong guy the night before. Chuck reveals that the girls he hired from the party had hidden cameras on them, and although they may be the future leaders of America, Chuck Bass now owns them. Nate, however, is mad that Chuck got those guys to go after Dan.
The Dean calls Serena and hints that she will be accepted and asks to issue a press release saying how Serena toured the campus, confirming everyone's suspicions that Yale is only interested in her celebrity. Do we think the newly patched together friendship of S and B is strong enough to survive this latest twist of events? We'll see... |
