■ SEVENTEEN CANDLES BEST QUOTES
  • "After being broken up with my boyfriend for...exactly twenty minutes, I...succumbed to inebriation, performed at a speakeasy, and surrendered my virtue to a self-absorbed ass. The only good news is that he's a total pig who will act like it never happened, thank God."
  • "Come on, man, I can hear you breathing on the other side of the door. Is she anybody you can get rid of? I really need to talk to you, man, please."
  • "I like Serena, and I like you, and she likes me, and you like me, so how--how can you not like each other? It's mathematically impossible."
  • "Are you ready for your present? Ow! If you wanted to play rough, all you had to do was ask."
  • "How do you think I feel? I haven't slept. I feel sick, like there's something in my stomach, fluttering."
  • "Chuck. You know that I adore all of God's creatures and the metaphors they inspire, but those butterflies...have got to be murdered."
  • "Stalk me much?"
  • "Is that our sex tape?"
  • "Spotted: B turning a year older, but not necessarily wiser. Guess Chuck's the gift that keeps on giving. Blow out your candles, B, this will be better in the dark."

■ SEVENTEEN CANDLES SYNOPSIS
CW Synopsis
Full Episode Synopsis
Devastated by the current state of her relationship with Nate (Chace Crawford) and still dealing with the guilt from her recent indiscretion, Blair (Leighton Meester) puts on a happy face for her 17th birthday party and attempts to hide the truth from her friends. Hoping to ease the tension between Serena (Blake Lively) and Vanessa (guest star Jessica Szohr), Dan (Penn Badgley) takes Vanessa to Blair's party so the girls can have some bonding time, but this only ends up making Serena more uncomfortable. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) brings her mom (guest star Susan Misner) home for a surprise visit, but Rufus (Matthew Settle) may not be ready to forgive and forget. Nate's parents (guest stars Sam Robards and Francie Swift) ask him to make a huge sacrifice in an effort to salvage his father's business as he faces charges of embezzlement and fraud. Ed Westwick and Kelly Rutherford also star. The episode was directed by Lee Shallat Chemel and written by Felicia D. Henderson.
Well, it might be hard to believe but there is a special guest visiting the house of God. Blair Waldorf and she does need to be forgiven. "After being broken up with my boyfriend for exactly twenty minutes, I succumbed to inebriation, performed at a Speak-Easy, and surrendered my virtue to a self-absorbed ass." aka Chuck Bass. Anyway, Blair is ready for her fair punishment but the priest assures our Upper East Side Princess should just try to drink less and keep her - fashion - clothes on. Nothing easier, claims Blair.
And guess whose limo is driving up to Waldorf Jr.? Yep, Chuck's. Who can't help but remind her what happened in the back of the very limo. Blair points out whatever happened didn't mean anything. What happens in limo, stays in limo. Actually, Blair has some major issues going on... her 17th Birthday and she does wish Nate to be part of it. Someone else wants Nate to be involved in Blair's Birthday. Nate's parents. Now that the Captain is facing charges of embezzlement and fraud, they can not let Eleanor Waldorf pull out of the business deal. Nate's mother gives her son the family ring so he can give it to Blair as The Gift. And it seems Nate is doing what his parents want him to do: he calls Blair up, claiming they can sort things out. They'll be seeing on her Birthday Party and Blair is more than thrilled. Immediately our beloved UES Princess calls her favorite jewelry store and puts a precious necklace on hold. In fact, this is a tradition of hers. She always puts something worth it on hold so that Nate bought whatever Blair had picked up. And a tradition can't be disappointing. Well, at least till now.
Fresh news. Jenny brought her mother Alison home and Humphrey boys were utterly shocked. Anyway, once alone, Alison and Rufus started talking. Rufus claimed he still cared about her and after Rufus' words, they started kissing.
Blair's exclusive and Japan-ish Party can get started but Nate, the only person Blair can't wait to see, is kind of missing.
Serena isn't pleased when finds out Dan brought Vanessa to the party. Vanessa joined Upper East Siders because she realized Dan did want her to bond with Serena. After some awkward minutes, this sort of happens. Thanks to a Guitar Hero competition. Yep, life is definitely unpredictable.
Meanwhile Chuck confronted Blair on the balcony. Chuck told her Nate was not about to show up. Blair replies Chuck does sound more and more like a jealous boyfriend. And then she gets it. Chuck, the evil womanizer without a soul, likes her?! After an awkward "Define like", Chuck does admit it. "I haven't slept. I feel sick, like there's something in my stomach fluttering." Blair urges him to knock those butterflies off. Chuck agrees. "it wasn't that great, anyway." Then, he blurts out what Nate had told him previously. The only reason why Nate had called Blair involved Eleanor's business deal. Well, Blair didn't buy it. She knew Nate would never do something like that to her. And it's time for a bet. "If he calls, I'll leave you alone forever. If he doesn't, you spend the night with me."
Serena is hurt when she finds out Dan talks Vanessa about his mother's return while she, van der Woodsen Jr. didn't know any of it. Dan assures Serena she is the one and they make it up. Then, it seems like Serena and Vanessa are starting to bond, after all.
It's midnight and Gossip Girl caught Nate hugging a mysterious girl, Jenny, after a sweet heart to heart about their families.
No one can believe what Gossip Girl has just posted on her blog. Blair is devastated and tells Serena about their break up.
Serena tries to comfort her BFF but Blair shut her out. She needs to be alone.
Meanwhile, Nate comes back home and tells his parents he and Blair are done. For good.
Back to our Birthday Girl... She was still crying all alone in a room when Chuck catches up with her. Blair points out she wasn't in the mood for what she thought he wanted from her. But Chuck just wanted to give her a present. The diamond necklace she had put on hold. "Something this beautiful deserves to be seen on someone worthy of its beauty." They started kissing. And guess who did sneak a peak? a shocked van der Woodsen Jr.
Cut on Blair and Chuck still kissing. "Spotted. B turning a year older, but not necessarily wiser. Guess Chuck's the gift that keeps on giving. Blow out your candles, B; this'll be better in the dark. xoxo Gossip Girl."
