| After surviving the on-again/off-again nature of their new relationship, Serena (Blake Lively) and Dan (Penn Badgley) finally acknowledge they are crazy about each other, despite their polar opposite worlds that constantly threaten to pull them apart. Chuck (Ed Westwick) contemplates investing in a burlesque club in the hopes of making his hard-to-please father, Bart (guest star Robert John Burke), proud of him. Nate (Chace Crawford) confronts his father, Captain (guest star Sam Robards), about the drugs he found in the house, but his father denies having a problem. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) discovers a secret her father, Rufus (Matthew Settle), and mother, Alison (guest star Susan Misner), have been keeping from her. Finally, Blair (Leighton Meester) is once again devastated by Nate's actions after Jenny reveals that Nate kissed her by accident thinking she was Serena. The episode was directed by Tony Wharmby and written by K.J. Steinberg. | After the fiasco at the mask ball, Dan and Serena had finally admitted that they were crazy about each other and were finally considered single. With Chuck wanting to invest into a Victrola, he goes to pitch the idea to his father Bart Bass, he catches his father with Lilly van der Woodsen, who he has apparently decided to be committed to.
Nate eventually confronts his father about the drugs that he had found and been blamed for. When Jenny catches her father arguing with her mother, she once again pretends that everything is going to be fine and work out. Yet when Nate tries to bribe Jenny to not tell Blair about what he had mistakenly confessed to her instead of Serena, he throws her for a loop for lying to Blair right in front of her.
Dan starts to have "nightmares/fantasies" about him and Serene, he catches his father arguing yet again with Jenny and his mother about her having an affair with her neighbor. Although Jenny catches the tail end of the conversation between her father and Dan, she still pretends as though everyone is going to be perfectly fine.
When Chuck's father ends up rejecting the idea to invest in the Victrola, saying that the only way he'll be proud of him is if he gets "A's" in school and gets a part-time job, he goes and get smashed during the whole night.
Eleanor Waldorf tells Blair that Nate has asked for the family ring to propose to Blair while they are picking out a dress for the celebratory dinner between Blair and Nate's families for the combining of a deal.
With Dan and Serena on the fast track towards having sex, Vanessa walks in on a compromising situation, which prompts a conversation between the two of them that ends with them yet again attempting to have sex and getting interrupted by Dan's father.
Chuck reveals to Lilly that he saw his father with a leggy Asian, in which he believes that he's cheating on her with, which didn't seem to surprise Lilly as much as it would most people because of Bart's past with cheating and leggy 25-year-olds.
When Nate goes to his mother to confess that his father has been doing and buying drugs for a while, he is upset when his mother rejects the idea that his farther needs help with the problems that he's having.
When Vanessa once again walks in on an personal situation that involves Dan studying porn to prepare for him having sex with Serena, she gives him advice on how he might want to fix his room to prepare for it. Blair helps Jenny out with the bracelet, and she in return attempts to tell Blair about Nate not being over Serena yet.
When the dinner comes around, Nate's father attempts to force Blair to try on the family ring to see how it looks on her, having been ignoring his son's efforts to tell him that they aren't doing as well as everyone things. After Dan's dad give him the same advice about his room that Vanessa gives him, he finally takes the advice.
When Chuck's father shows up at Victrola, taking back his choice and accepting his proposal for the business, which he tells his father that he had been mistaken about him and the Asian girl because of the fact that she ended up being an associate that convinced his father to accept the proposal and he had told Lilly about what he had originally though. Nate finally tells his father that he needs help and that he has to go and get it, when he ends up punching Nate and getting arrested. What follows is having an argument with Blair about how he doesn't go to her for any help about anything, which ends in them apparently breaking up, and her leaving to go to Victrola.
With Dan surprising Serena with a made up room for their first time together, she confesses that she's scared about everything because she's never had a guy look at her the way that Dan does. The show ends with Dan and Serena cuddling in bed, not being expressed whether or not they had sex; Nate's mother telling him that his father has more charges on him than what it would have been because the police had been building a case against him for fraud for some time and they are not able to make the one million dollar bail; and what appears to be Blair losing her virginity to Chuck. |
